About Us
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, countless lives have been shattered. Many have lost their homes, forced to move and survive under unimaginable circumstances. In Kharkiv, a non-profit organization Through the War has stepped up to create a shelter for elderly individuals who have lost everything and have no one to turn to. We currently care for over 60 people, many of whom are disabled.
These people haven’t just lost their homes and belongings - they’ve lost cherished memories, like family photos and keepsakes that remind them of the loved ones they've lost. What they need goes beyond just food and shelter - they need love, compassion, and a sense of belonging.
At our shelter, we work tirelessly to lift their spirits. Whether it's through the companionship of pets or hosting special spa days, we strive to create moments of joy. However, we rely solely on donations, and we urgently need your support to continue our mission.
